The ASTM subcommittee on Driven and Other Fasteners, ASTM F16.05, develops and manages a suite of standards for nails, staples, and fasteners other than bolts and fasteners specified by ASME. The ASTM F16.05 standards provide the necessary terminology, testing methods, material requirements, physical properties, dimensions and tolerances, and corrosion resistance coatings for fasteners used for a variety of wood and wood materials fastening applications including engineered construction and prescriptive structural applications. The standards under the jurisdiction of this subcommittee are used by fastener manufacturers and product evaluation agencies for product specifications, testing protocols, and are reference standards for the purpose of evaluating fastener products for compliance with building codes and other qualified fastener applications.
ISANTA is an active participant in the ASTM standards process and holds the chair position for the F16.05 subcommittee on driven and other fasteners.
Standards are published and available for purchase at ASTM International.
