The International Staple, Nail and Tool Association (ISANTA) is pleased to announce that Robert Leichti, PhD, has joined the association as the incoming Director of Technical Services. His onboarding began on February 2, and he will work with our current Technical Resources Consultant, Rick Allen, until Rick retires on June 30, 2026.
Dr. Leichti brings deep experience in standards development and technical leadership. He has participated in several ASTM committees aligned with ISANTA’s work, collaborated with ICC-ES and the American Wood Council, and previously served on the ISANTA Board of Directors. His background closely aligns with the responsibilities of the Director of Technical Services and supports ISANTA’s continued focus on quality, safety, and industry standards.
Dr. Leichti spent more than ten years leading the Simpson Strong Tie Fastener Engineering team. Since stepping back from full-time work at the end of 2022, he has continued part-time as Sr. Technical Manager, mentoring engineers, supporting product development and code recognition projects, and contributing to R&D efforts until his retirement in December 2025. He also serves as an ANSI representative to ISO TC165 WG7 for Timber Structures, Connections and Assemblies.
ISANTA looks forward to working with Dr. Leichti and thanks Rick for his dedicated service and leadership as he prepares for retirement.
